The Challenge

Smart home owners with tado° thermostats needed a central overview of all rooms and their temperature, humidity, and activity data. The standard tado° app only provides individual room views, no historical data, and no advanced monitoring features for power users or technical analysis.

The Solution

A comprehensive Grafana dashboard that visualizes all sensor data via the Prometheus tado-exporter. The dashboard shows temperature settings, current temperatures, humidity, and activity status for all rooms in a unified interface with historical trends and customizable time ranges.

Implementation

The dashboard was developed as a JSON template that can be easily imported into Grafana. It supports both Celsius and Fahrenheit scales with appropriately adjusted thresholds. Optional Smart Schedule integration displays heating schedules as time regions. Fully responsive for desktop and mobile.

Results

A production-ready dashboard actively used by the smart home community. Available on Grafana.com with over 1000 downloads. Provides detailed insights into heating behavior, energy efficiency, and room climate trends. Enables data-driven optimization of heating control.
