MAC Address Lookup Tool

Network engineers and IT administrators frequently need MAC address information for troubleshooting and network management. The challenge was to develop a fast, reliable, and user-friendly solution that supports various MAC address formats and enables both single and bulk lookups. Integration into different workflows and platforms was essential.

The solution was a comprehensive web tool with RESTful API that resolves MAC addresses to vendor information. The system supports all common MAC address formats, provides both web interface and API access, and integrates via webhooks, Open Graph, and OpenSearch into various platforms. An IEEE OUI database ensures current and precise vendor information.

Implementation was done with PHP 8 and MySQL/MariaDB for the OUI database. The system provides both plaintext and JSON API responses, supports bulk processing via ARP tables, and implements rate limiting for production environments. Open Graph meta tags enable preview integration in messaging platforms. OpenSearch integration allows browser-native search.

A productive web tool used daily by network engineers worldwide. The system processes over 250 requests per second and offers seamless integration into various workflows. Multi-platform support via webhooks, Open Graph, and OpenSearch enables efficient use in different environments. Support for all IEEE MAC block types (MA-L, MA-M, MA-S).
